30 Hour Advanced Family Mediation Training
The Advanced Family Mediation Training is a 30-hour training fulfilling the Texas ADR Act requirements for mediators doing court-ordered family mediation and following the standards set by the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable. Court appointed mediators are generally expected to meet the requirements of Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Section 154.052 (including Domestic Violence Training). The sessions include family law, family dynamics, domestic violence, child development, ethical and practical considerations in a combined lecture and role play environment.
The class is limited to 25 students.

Instructor Steve’s punctuality and well-structured lesson plans were always appreciated. His pre-class emails with learning objectives and handouts were a great way to prepare for the day. Kreider Mediation’s adaptability, whether it’s more time for questions, insights from practicing attorneys, or a break, always met the class’s needs. The use of various teaching methods like videos, PowerPoint, issue-spotting exercises, and role-playing added depth to the learning experience. Kreider Mediation also provided numerous forms to help us be better equipped to spread our wings upon completion.
One of the highlights of the Family Mediation training for me was the Domestic Violence session led by Instructor Jeannie. Since taking my first course with Kreider Mediation, I’ve completed two more. Here’s why I still recommend Kreider Mediation: Instruction is practical. I learned the nuts and bolts of what to do and when during the process. I appreciated the variety of backgrounds of the other students and the insights they brought to the courses. Steve generously shared sample documents and his slides from the classes. Still appreciated having the class done after work in smaller chunks. The downside to that is my fellow students feel like family. I’m going to miss them!

I took the Advanced Mediation course from Kreider Mediation and was so glad I chose this instructor. The class is 100% via Zoom, but it felt personal and tailored to my goals. Classes are scheduled after normal working hours, so I didn’t have to take time off my day job to participate. Lessons broken into four-hour chunks also give students time to think about the day before, review notes, formulate questions, and prepare for the next meeting. With so many things competing for my attention, I found this format helpful. And finally, Steve Kreider is a fantastic, down-to-earth instructor – an Army veteran who has seen it all. He brings in other professionals to dig into specific areas of mediation, too. Choose this course – you won’t regret it.

Ronda Haynes recently conducted the 30 Hour Advanced Family Training course via Zoom, and it was very good. The curriculum and collateral materials covered the basic law dealing with family disputes. The underlying notion of consideration of what is in the Best Interest of the Child was stressed throughout the sessions. The issues of access and possession, custody, child support, CPS involvement etc. all received examination and discussion. Ronda’s years of experience showed though plainly, with examples and details invariably described with patience and good humor–the hallmarks of a good teacher! The subject by its nature is serious; however, Ronda managed to reflect that mediators dealing with the emotionally charged topics in family cases often experience dignity, satisfaction, and meaningfulness in those negotiations. A course very worthwhile!

I recently completed a course with Kreider Mediation, and I have to say it was outstanding! Our instructor (Ronda) was excellent! As a practicing attorney, she gave a great perspective of what to expect, shared some of her own experiences and made sure the class flowed properly, while ensuring everyone’s questions were answered and created a very inclusive environment.
Even though the owner (Steve) wasn’t the main instructor, he personally checked in during sessions to ensure everything ran smoothly and that we had no unanswered questions. From day one, he was incredibly helpful, guiding me through payment options and a schedule that fit around my full-time job.
